Career highlights

From public-sector governance to global platform integrity, Aaron has built Trust & Safety systems that operate under scale, speed, and regulatory pressure.

01

Bluesky Social

As one of Bluesky’s earliest hires, Aaron solo-scaled the Trust & Safety function from a sub-3-million-user protocol experiment to roughly 25 million users before building the team behind it. He navigated a million-user-per-day growth surge, 250,000 user reports in a single day, the establishment of new legal entities globally, and regulatory compliance across the EU DSA and the UK and Australian Online Safety Acts — all at a pre-revenue startup. Bluesky now serves 44M+ users with a 24/7 operation of 100+ moderators and proactive AI detection systems.

02

Twitter / X

Over five years at Twitter, Aaron led the Site Integrity team in Dublin before taking over Threat Disruption globally. His portfolio covered scaled threats, election integrity, influence operations, misinformation, and coordinated inauthentic behavior. Following the 2022 acquisition, he served as one of the global Trust & Safety co-leads.

03

Canadian Federal Government

Aaron spent over a decade in the Canadian Federal Government — Global Affairs Canada, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, the National Research Council, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada. He was part of a small team that pioneered “direct diplomacy” — using social media data to maintain engagement in destabilized states after traditional diplomatic channels had collapsed. His research into extremist networks contributed to the formation of the Global Coalition Against Daesh/ISIS.
